A VOICE FOR EVERY CORNER
OF PRECINCT 4
Areas of Focus
Stephanie Draper is running for Denton County Commissioner, Precinct 4 because she believes in responsive, accountable, and forward-thinking county government that delivers results for every resident across our diverse communities. These are the areas she wants to focus on improving:
County-Wide Voting Centers
Stephanie supports moving Denton County toward countywide Election Day Voting Centers, allowing voters to cast ballots at any location in the county, reducing confusion that acts as a barrier to turnout under the current precinct-based model. During public testimony before the Commissioners Court, she cited other Texas counties that have successfully implemented this approach with improved participation and shorter wait times. As a long-time champion for improvements to election administration to expand access while maintaining the integrity of the election process, she is committed to advocating for reforms that make voting more accessible, understandable, and efficient for all eligible Denton County voters.
Smart Economic Development
Precinct 4 is rapidly growing and with over a million residents, we need to prepare for the future. Stephaine is ready to do so by working with our community leaders, small business owners, the local hospitals, non-profit organizations, and our local arts and culture groups to ensure that we grow together and preserve our vibrant culture. Her focus is on balanced development that enhances quality of life without sacrificing fiscal responsibility. With small business grants, first-time home-owner grants, and other strategic economic initiatives, she is confident that when we work together we can make Denton shine together.
Support Emergency Services
Public safety is fundamental to a thriving county, and Precinct 4 is in a unique location when it comes to first responder jurisdiction, leading to delays in response times. Stephanie is committed to working with our local heroes to clarify this confusion, decreasing response times, and coordinating improved communications between departments to make hand-offs seamless. Additionally, she wants to provide them with additional funding to keep our community safe and thriving.
Public Spending Transparency
Stephanie believes the county should provide clear, accessible budget information so residents understand how their tax dollars are spent. She is committed to transparent, disciplined fiscal management that: • Protects taxpayers from unnecessary property tax increases; • Prioritizes core services such as infrastructure, health services, and compassionate public safety; • Ensures county resources are aligned with our needs as a community.
Road & Transit Improvements
Stephanie wants to repair our roads using community-sourced data to prioritize needs, approaching our deteriorating roads with an efficient and cost-effective strategy with the goal to leave no community unheard. Additionally, she wants to expand the public transit access for Precinct 4, connecting students and staff to UNT and TWU, and other transit centers.
Engagement with the Community
Precinct 4 is filled with diverse communities; rural, suburban, and urban– all of whom deserve to have their voices heard and respected. Stephanie believes county government should be approachable, accountable, and transparent to all. She is committed to putting the needs of our residents before the wants of outside developers and the big businesses that take money out of our Precinct. As County Commissioner, residents will be able to speak to Stephanie directly at regular Town Hall events and contact her with their concerns.
